While the competitors swarmed the bowl, the pros on Poseiden's Thumbs Up Tour organized a few quick contests on the street course to give the local youth a chance to earn great prizes courtesy of Hoopla, Gravity Skateboards and Etnies. Jessica Florencio and Amelia Brodka judged “best trick” contests on the hubba and the hip along with “best goofy trick,” and “most in need of a new skateboard” contests as Isabelle and Eliana Sosco gave out the seemingly endless pile of complete skateboards, shoes, shirts and even sandwiches conjured up by founder Micaela Ramirez. Braulio Sagas and Miutn Martinez manned the Poseiden booth as Ana Paula Negaro took photos of the bowl jams.

Later, Braulio skated in the open division and impressed the judges with fluid lines and stylish feebles across the deep end and through the corner. Amelia Brodka won 3rd place in the women's division with her deep-end tail slides and front rocks on the center hip.

After the contest, the crew caravanned to Barrios Unidos' headquarters in Santa Cruz to interact, skate and play basketball with inner city ethnic youth who are at risk of becoming involved in local gang activity. Barrios Unidos is a non-profit organization focused on the prevention gang violence by offering positive alternatives to young people and encouraging the development of healthy multicultural communities. Poseiden brought the kids hoopla completes and Etnies shoes to allow the kids to try their hand at skateboarding. In return, the owner of Barrios Unidos allowed Poseiden's group to stay the night at their campground.

The Berrics
The Girls also got the chance to skate The Berrics.
